UPDATE

We have been in Houston (League City) for a week now. We have had our ups and downs as can be expected…We are still in the RV but should be closing on the house Sept 9th. I can’t wait. It hasn’t been as bad as I imagined it would be (living in the RV).  We have been keeping ourselves busy.

We had a heck of a time trying to get the kids registered for school. Took us 4 days. They were swamped with new kids and unorganized, but as of 10 this morning they are all in school. We have been exploring and doing a lot of local activities and that had been fun. I think this place has a lot of potential. Now if the kids can just get acquainted with some other kids and start making friends…it always stinks not knowing anyone. They are good at making friends and they have moved several times so I know they will be ok…just takes time.

I am ready to get moved into the house and have everything situated. I miss my sewing machine and would like to get back in to the swing of things. I don’t think that will happen for a while though. I miss my house and my set up :(

1 More Day Until The BIG Move!

Scott will be here @ noon tomorrow. I can’t wait to see him. It has been 3 weeks now. We have a lot to do tomorrow. I dread that part. I have TONS of errands to run and we have to pack up the attic and garage too…YUK. Then up at 5am to get ready to leave by 6. Then the fun really begins…all 5 of us and the dog packed up in the Honda for the 10 hour drive and a 3 week stay in the RV…can’t wait til we close on the house!!!!

Nothing exciting…

Nothing exciting is going on here. I am still trying to get everything packed and do a few little last minute things that need done. I am just about out of time. Scott will be here @ noon on Thursday, and we will leave really early Friday morning. Tonight the kids are have sleepovers. Actually we are doing what we call a switch out. The kids are friends with my friends sons. I take one of hers and she takes one of mine. Then tomorrow we are spending one last day all hanging out @ Splash water park. I really don’t have time for all that, but I decided I really needed to make sure we did anyway. I just hope I haven’t forgotten to do something I needed to get done…

Tag You're It Charming Girls!

1. Share your favorite quilting or sewing tip.—My favorite tip is something that the quilting teacher told me when I took my machine quilting class. She said to get rid of the perfectionism, If you make a mistake the quilting police will not show up at your door!

2. Share your best tip for managing time more effectively (what works best for you)!—I have a house hold binder where I keep track of everything. I use an amended version of FlyLady’s system (http://flylady.net).

3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?—I have been a lot of places. I can’t think of any place I would like to go that I haven’t been. I would love to be in the Caribbean right now!

New Look

Instead of packing this afternoon (I really needed a break), I decided to play around with my blog layout. I really had a good time reading about blogger and all the cool things that you can do with it (I had even more fun tweaking templates). So far I am pretty pleased with the way it looks. At some point I plan to change the graphics, but so far I haven’t come up with anything that I like. I would like to take some pictures of my finished quilts or something to use as the header, but I have to finish one first…HA!

Boxes, boxes, and more boxes…

I was up until 5 (I can’t sleep well when Scott is gone), up at 10, and feeling very cranky and tired! My oldest son Kyle helped me pack the kitchen and a few other things last night after I picked him up from work. It felt like we got a lot done. I keep thinking I’m going to finished soon, then I look around and realize I have this or that still to do. Will it ever end? There are boxes everywhere I look, and besides the boxes, the house is starting to look so empty. The boxes are starting to really drive me nuts! I also cleaned out kids closets and have TONS of stuff to take to Once Upon A Child. Maybe I will make a few $$$ to go to the Quilt Store one last time before I move.

My closet is all packed except my suitcase...

The living room, entry, and kitchen are starting to get pilled up…and my poor sewing machine is looking so sad waiting to be put away….

Full Double Rainbow

I tried to take pictures of the beautiful rainbow we had night before last. It was a full rainbow…of course I couldn’t get the whole thing in the picture. If you look real close you can see that it was also a double rainbow. One of my favorite sights ever! My pictures do not do it justice.

Trying not to cry…

My sister called this evening. Her and the kids are coming to town to see us on Sunday. I am starting to get a little sad about the move now. I hadn’t given much thought as to how far we were going to be from family…definitely not any more day trips to see each other (which means we won’t see each other as much). I promised myself I wouldn’t cry…looks like it may just be a promise that I can’t keep. I have so many things to look forward to and so many things to miss :(

Sill....

I am so sick of packing. I am tired and I am cranky. The real estate agent has showed the house 3 times since yesterday morning, which drives me nuts because to me the house in utter chaos! I hate for people to be in the house if everything isn't in order (yet it is a sickness). I know it shouldn't be that big of deal, but it does bother me. I still have so much to do...it isn't even funny! Anyone want to come help me pack???? It has gotten so bad that I have been looking for excuses to do anything but pack...like makeover my blog...LOL

I have messed around enough...back to packing!

Packing....

I spent most of my day taping boxes and packing. So not fun! I am already tired of it. My house was so nice and clean and now it looks like a tornado hit it. Scott bought his plane ticket and will be here next Thursday to drive me and the boys to Houston. I am really dreading that dive...12 hours in the Honda Accord with me, Scott, 3 teen boys and the dog. UGGGGG! Then to top it off, we will be living in the RV until we close on the house. The kids start school on the 25th and we didn't want them to start a week here and then have to move. We should close on the house around the 7th, hopefully. Please pray for my sanity!

Here are pics of the new house...

GIVE AWAY ALLERT!!!

Visit Sipiweske Quilt Designs to check out the details of this beautiful wall hanging give away.

What I have been working on....

I finished my bag. I am going to give it to my sister for her birthday.

We are going to be moving to Houston in less than 2 weeks, and I will be without my sewing machine etc for a while so I decided to start a few applique projects to keep me going.

Here is the BOM project...

And here is another project I started. I got the pattern from Don't Look Now. It was fun and easy. The pattern is for a pillow, but I decided to do a wall hanging instead. I also decided to add a scrappy border. I am going to hang it up in my new office/sewing room at the new house when it is finished. Hopefully finishing the edges will keep me busy for a while.

The Home Sweet Home BOM I am doing hand applique, and this one I did with iron on fusible web. The iron on was so much easier than turning the edges...after I finish the Home Sweet Home quilt I think I will do all future projects with the iron on method...maybe. LOL
