1 Year, 12 Quilts—January Block

Here is Donna’s block. This was my 1st time to paper piece…in fact it was my first time to so anything beside sewing squares or strips together! I am surprised that it even resembles what it is suppose to be. Although I am not really pleased with the block itself. I wasn’t sure how to do the seams and they are messy, and 1 of the points don’t match up. I thought about ripping it all out and try again, but was afraid that it wouldn’t go back together and I didn’t have enough fabric to start over from scratch.I sure hope she isn’t disappointed with it.

Time to Say Good-Bye…

To 2009. Seems like you arrived only yesterday and now it is time to say good-bye. You have been an interesting year full of many changes, but like all things, you too must come to an end. Tomorrow I will be greeting a new year, 2010, but until them I am going to enjoy one last day with you!

I hope everyone has a Safe and Happy New Year!

My Gift…

I wanted to share a picture of a gift I received from my Grandmother. It belonged to my Great-Great-Grandmother.

Everything still works. My Grandmother even has all the attachments and the original owners manual!

Neptune Scruffy…

Top is complete. I just LOVE doing these Scruffy Quilts. I decided to do this one with 2 stacked squares instead of three. Super fast and super easy! I have the binding and backing fabric ordered. As soon as it gets here, this little baby is going to be my 1st 2010 finish!!!

After looking at it, I noticed that 2 of the strips were switched. I don’t know how that happened unless my hubby and dog were playing and the dog messed it up and hubby tried to fix it…oh well.

This is my favorite block…I love the black on coral :)

I just love the NEPTUNE line…I think it will always be my favorite!

Calling ALL 2010 Quilt Challenges!

I started quilting around the middle of 2009. After getting familiar with the blogging community I started discovering all the wonderful challenges, quilt-a-longs, etc. Of course, I was late in discovering them therefore did not get to participate.

This year I am ready to go so…

I would like you to leave me a comment letting me know of any 2010 Quilt Challenges or Quilt-A-Longs you know about or participating in.

NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

It is the time of year that we all start making lists of things we would like to accomplish in the new year. If you are like me you always have the best of intentions and make a wonderful list of things that you REALLY PLAN on doing…you start out excited and motivated. Every now and again you may accomplish one of those goals but more often than not you find yourself disappointed with another year of unfulfilled resolutions.

This year I only have 1 real set goal…to read the bible from cover to cover. I have joined the BIBLE IN 90 DAYS CHALLENGE. I read about it @ Mom's Toolbox. Go check it out and join me!

Other than that I plan on enjoying the new year, my family, and quilting.

May everyone have a Happy and Blessed new year!

Merry Christmas!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.

It’s going to be a long day!

I have so much to do to day. I have to go to the dreaded mall to pick up and exchange a few things. I have to get all the laundry done. I have to find some warm winter clothes to wear while we are at home. I have to finish a gift that I have literally been working on for 3 years...that’s right, 3 years (lowering head in shame). I have to get the house in order and cleaned up. I have to wrap all the presents. I have to bake cookies. I have to get us all packed and ready to go…Days like to day I wish I had a cape and super powers! Anyone have a clone machine I can borrow? It is going to take 2 or 3 of me to get this all done! Wish me luck :)

My boys are home…

and tucked into their own beds (where they belong) cuddled up in their new quilts! I am a sucker and couldn’t say no when they asked to open them. They were so proud and loved them more than I had hoped they would :)

Finished…and without a moment to spare!

It is 3:06 and we have to leave at 4:00 to make it to the airport on time to pick up the boys. I have worked 4 days straight trying to finished everything on the boys Christmas quilts. I didn’t think I was going to get it done. I might even have enough time to take a shower and get them wrapped!

This is also my CGQC December projects…FINISHED! WHOO HOO!

Now I am off to get a quick shower and pick up my boys…4 days is a long time without them!

Have you seen it???

Natalia from Piece N Quilt has her 1st tutorial called “I’m Blushing” over @ Moda Bake Shop and it is ADORABLE!!!

Busy Day…

I have so much to do today. I had to get up extra early to check mail and get all caught up on blog reading :) The kids get out of school early and we have some errands to run, have to get them packed, and then it is off to the airport for them…Maybe, just maybe I will be able to get in some sewing later this evening.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and productive Friday!

Making Progress…

The binding has been sewn to the front of all 3 quilts. Now to just finish them up and then add the names to the back :)

They may actually be finished for Christmas!

Worried & Prayer Request…

My 3 boys are flying to see their Grammy tomorrow and will be coming home on Monday. Two of them have been close to tears because they are afraid. They have flown many times and it has never been their favorite thing to do, but they have NEVER acted like this. So for those of you who pray, could you please say a prayer for a safe trip. They fly tomorrow (Friday) and Monday.

Thanks!

CGQC Tag Follow-up

I decided to take a picture of my favorite ornament and the box of collected snowmen & Santa ornaments that didn’t get put up this year…

CGQC December Tag

For this months tag Joan has asked us to share our favorite Christmas decorations. I am sharing my tree and my nativity set. I didn’t put all of our ornaments on the tree this year (I wish I had). My boys and I have spent years collecting snowman ornaments. You will not see them in the picture…This is the 1st time they haven’t been on the tree. For some reason I wasn’t in a decorating mood :(

This is how the tree looks without my favorite snowman ornaments…

DSC_0440

Here is my nativity set. I love my nativity set so much that up until the move 4 months ago, this had a permanent spot in my living room (we didn’t save it just for Christmas). I really don’t have a place to do that here…yet!

DSC_0442

Tomorrow I may get out a few of my favorite snowman ornaments and take and post some pics :)
